Don Schawang

Don Schawang has served as Head of School of Bishop Seabury Academy since 2007 and has been a teacher at the Academy since 2000.  He has a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in American Literature from Wichita State University, where he also taught English, and a Ph.D. in Theatre & Film from the University of Kansas, where he also taught Western Civilizations.  He is presently the Chair of the Accreditation Review Committee as well as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS).  Dr. Schawang has spent the majority of his professional career at Seabury: “I have never seen a school where teaching and learning were so important and where young people could be supported to discover themselves and truly live their best lives.”  He loves movies, books, music, and cooking for people, but his favorite thing in the world is teaching Philosophy & Ethics to his seniors.
