Our Focus

Every encounter with nature is both an invitation to learn about the natural world, and an opportunity to discover our own limits, our impact, and our needs as human beings.

We believe that an excellent science education balances the rigorous pursuit of content knowledge in the physical, earth, space, and life sciences with the acquisition of process skills such as observation, measuring and recording data, literature review, experimental design, data analysis, and redesign.

We further hold that to be successful, we must make every effort to nurture curiosity and enthusiasm for the sciences.

Our vision as a science department is to encourage our students to explore their potential to creatively overcome their limits, recognize and minimize their impacts, and meet their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs all within the context of a supportive community.
