One Community
At Bishop Seabury Academy diversity is essential to reaching educational and academic excellence, and students' learning experiences are enriched by the diversity of the curriculum, student body, and adult community.
Our curriculum is global in orientation, meaning that students learn to understand and value the many cultures of our world. At the same time the curriculum is broadly humanist, in that they explore what binds us together as humans in all our complexity. The teaching of ethical conduct and cultural competency takes place in small class sizes and discussion-based learning. Seabury is committed to creating a safe, and inclusive environment where every student, regardless of race, gender, class, sexual orientation, or any other aspect of their identity, is able to accomplish their educational goals.
In the fall of 2015, a group of students, teachers, parents, and administrators came together to explore ways to promote the values of diversity and inclusion within the school community. Data from the Assessment of Inclusivity and Multiculturalism (AIM) informed the team’s decision to focus on the areas of faculty professional development, student engagement, and curriculum.
