Jenny Baker Powers

Jenny came to Bishop Seabury in the Fall of 2020 with the intention to help develop and grow the Learning Support program. Jenny has over 20 years of experience in Montessori education which provides her a unique perspective on individualized learning styles and differentiated curriculum. During her time at Seabury, Learning Support has expanded to meet the increasing needs of students with learning differences, instituted Executive Functioning instruction for Middle School and seen the creation of the Student Success Center. In an effort to reduce the stigma of asking for help, as well as to acknowledge that knowing where and how to seek support is an important life skill, The Student Success Center (SSC) is open to all Seabury students looking for direct assistance or just a quiet place to concentrate. Jenny has a BA in the Humanities from the University of Kansas, an M.Ed. from Loyola Baltimore and Montessori certification from the Association of Montessori Internationale. Jenny shares her life with her husband Josh, three daughters: Ruby (22), Hazel (16) and Birdie (12), as well as their big adopted dog Dexter. In her free time Jenny enjoys reading, gardening, cooking, home décor and traveling. Jenny thinks her role at Seabury is fulfilling because she holds dear the belief that all students have the capability to learn, grow and succeed.
