Giving
Educating our young people is a privilege that is felt strongly at independent schools like Seabury. The high level of excellence and pride in a quality education is brought about through the financial support of those who truly believe in our school’s mission and commitment that make this possible.
Annual Fund giving supports the school's needs in the present. It supplements tuition in order to help with operating expenses such as faculty salaries, financial aid, curricular and program enrichment, arts and enhancing our school in general. Without our Annual Fund, the burden of these necessary costs would fall on tuition, eventually sending it outside the range of our families and compromising the diversity of our community. The even greater success of the Annual Fund has a profound effect on our ability to continue to retain and attract the very best faculty – the very reason that your child is at Seabury! It is important that each parent give according to his/her ability. Parent participation in the Annual Fund is the most substantial way for the community to demonstrate its belief in the school.
Planned Giving and Endowment funds are essential to the future of Seabury, enabling it to endure through the years. An endowment provides steady income in the future, and allows the school to borrow emergency funds should that ever be necessary. Your gift to the endowment is a gift to the future of Seabury. The most common way of giving to the endowment is through planned giving. Leaving Bishop Seabury Academy in your will or trust, as a beneficiary in your retirement plan or a gift of life insurance will allow you to make an important impact without having to write a check.
Capital giving is the portion of funds raised which pay for permanent improvements to the school. Such gifts are often much larger than a typical annual fund gift. When Seabury made the move to the Clinton Parkway campus in the summer of 2003, it was through the generosity of capital gifts in such a campaign that the dream was accomplished.
As a parent of a Seabury student, alumna or alumnus of the school, a grandparent, or parent of a graduate, you can show your appreciation for your favorite teacher, your support and help enrich the education of the Seabury students today through your gifts. Not only are your gifts tax deductible, but a planned gift may help you achieve selected financial planning goals and make a philanthropic gift at the same time.
