Friday Letter

January 26, 2018

Dear Families,

It’s good to see the classrooms filling up again with healthy students! Let’s hope the worst of the sick season is behind us (knocking on wood). The school year is a cycle, and like the predictable appearance of winter sickness, this time of year can be hard on both students and adults in terms of emotional stress too. Sometimes these two sides can feed off each other, in positive or negative ways. I encourage all of us to take good care of ourselves with enough sleep, healthy food, and time with loved ones – and also to extend an extra bit of grace with ourselves and others. It may not feel like it, but spring is just around the corner.

A reminder about contract renewals for the 2017-18 school year: The early enrollment incentive deadline is Tuesday, January 31!  Please return your contract and deposit check by then to receive the $250 discount off of tuition for next year and to secure a space for your child.  (The discount will be reflected in your payment worksheet that you will receive in the Spring; it does not come off of the deposit due.)  If you have any questions or have misplaced your contract, please don't hesitate to contact Mrs. McCaffrey.

Thank you to Maria Ruiz-Dominguez and Kara Schmitz for directing this weekend's Special Olympics basketball and cheer clinic --and to all of the basketball players and cheerleaders who are participating.  It will take place tomorrow (Saturday) from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. I know our guests and their families really appreciate this event.

Dr. Schawang is hosting two movie nights again this year.  The middle-school (6th-8th grades) will watch The Incredibles and Gremlins from 6-10 pm on February 2nd.  Parents may leave students at campus after school on Friday.  The upper-school will watch The Fugitive and Dunkirk from 6:30-10 pm on February 3rd.  The event is free.  Pizza, snacks, and drinks will be provided on both evenings (or students may bring their own dinner).  Students may bring pillows, blankets, bean bags, lawn chairs, and so forth if they desire.

Our Seabury power-lifting team often starts competing without most of us knowing it!  Coach Aaron Combs and his team have begun their tournament season, and we wish them luck!

BSAP can still use a few volunteers for Casino Night on Saturday, February 10th.  Please contact Jennifer Martello at 785-979-6268 or jaja@sunflower.com if interested.  (What happens at Seabury Casino Night, stays at Seabury Casino Night...except the prizes.  Students get to take those home!)

Tickets are on sale now for the "Celebrate Seabury" 20th Celebration and Auction, to be held Saturday, February 24! We hope you can join us for what is sure to be a very fun evening!  Simply click here to buy your tickets today: http://seabury20.gesture.com/

Spirit Week was a fun way to let loose some energy this week. Today is “Seabury Spirit Wear Day,” so we have moved Dress Down Day to next Friday, February 2nd.

Have a great weekend!
