Friday Letter

February 9, 2018

Dear Parents,

I hope you had a productive round of parent-teacher conferences.  As always, thank you to the BSAP hospitality parents and students who provided meals for the staff: Marta Schwartz, Ivan Calderon, Mary Beth Carter, Melinda Black, and Joni & Isabel Pro.

I hope you can come out for tonight's match-up between Seabury and Veritas.  It should be a very exciting game!  Stay afterwards for our brief Senior Night, as we celebrate our senior athletes.

Saturday night is Casino Night (7-9 pm) in the Commons and is for all Seabury students.  Students can play a variety of games or sit at one table and perfect their strategy all night long.  Pizza, snacks, and drinks will be provided, as well as prizes such as Beats wireless headphones, gift cards, and cash.  In the event of hostile weather conditions, please check the school's Facebook page for cancellation.

The annual Seabury Blood Drive is Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm.  Please see the attached flyer if you would like more information.

Students have been working very hard to prepare for our annual History Day presentations and judging on Tuesday.  Parents, visitors, students, and faculty are welcome to explore History Day exhibits, websites, and papers on display.  Guests are welcome to view performances and documentaries but must not enter or exit a room while a film or performance is taking place.  Good luck to our student historians!

Last week we had quite a few academic competitors in action.  Congratulations to Lear Eicher for representing the school with skill and humor at the Regional Spelling Bee.  Congratulations to our first ever Academic World Quest team (Lyle Griggs, Audrey Nguyen-Hoang, Peter Westbrook, and Brayden Shumaker) for representing Seabury.  And congratulations to the Mathcounts team for taking 4th place at Washburn University.

I had a great time watching movies with your children last weekend, and I hope they enjoyed the films.

Yours respectfully,

Dr. Schawang
