Forensics

Bishop Seabury Academy Forensics History

Forensics, at Seabury, is a competitive team sport, often known to the students as Competitive Acting/Speaking.  The team competes in 9 categories at 6-8 tournaments each spring. The categories are broken down into 3 areas: Speaking - which includes Extemporaneous Speech, Informative Speaking and Original Oration; Interpretation - which includes both Poetry and Prose; and Acting, which includes Solo work in Humor and Drama, Duet Acting and Improvised Duet Acting. In these tournaments, Seabury competes against mostly larger schools (4A, 5A and 6A), until the State tournament in May where the competition is strictly the best 2A schools.

Bishop Seabury Academy currently has 25 9th through 12th graders on the team.  That number has fluctuated between 20 and a school high 42 in the past.  Seabury has been 3rd 4 times in State and Second once, and has developed 13 individual State Champions.
