SUMMER ASSIGNMENT

Happy summer to all of you wonderful Comparative Government Aficionados!!!!

We will spend the first month of class discussing terms/concepts of Comparative Politics. After discussing the terms/concepts, we will then begin to compare states. We will begin by comparing China and Mexico. There will be three books: textbook, a reader, and an AP workbook. If you go to my web site on the Seabury home page, you will find the titles etc.

THE ASSIGNMENT:

PART I: Please read 3 of the briefing papers contained in this folder. There are five of them and each is about 45 pages in length.

PART II: After reading, write an essay on a topic that you have found interesting in each paper. You should have 3 essays in all. You do not need to do any outside research for this, but you sure can. The essay should be 2 pages in length, have a thesis, and support for that thesis. For example, on the globalization paper, you may want to write about the negative impacts of globalization. On the Mexico paper, you may want to describe the PRI and how its power has waned the past 10 years.
